In recognition of his talent, achievements and contribution to the field of music in general and Mrudangam in particular; he has been honoured by various reputed organizations with titles and awards.

In May 1997, he was awarded the prestigious K Puttu Rao Memorial Palghat Mani Iyer award in recognition of his outstanding abilities as Mrudangam player and conferred the prestigious title ‘Mrudanga Kala Shiromani’ by the Percussive Arts Centre, Bangalore. With this, he has joined the select band of senior, outstanding Mrudangam Vidwans in the Karnatik music field who have been conferred this title.

In Aug 2009, he was felicitated by the Bangalore Gayana Samaja with the title – ‘Sangeetha Kalaratna’ during the annual music conference which was presided over by him.
